Using the facility
Gym Rules
A small number of sensible rules that keep the facility safe, usable and pleasant to train in. They form part of your agreement with us.
This is a coached facility, not an open-access gym, so most of what follows is simply how a coached session already works. Ask your coach if anything here is unclear.
Training safely
- Follow reasonable instructions from your coach, particularly on technique, loading and equipment.
- Use equipment as you have been shown. If you are not sure how something works, ask a coach before you use it — that is what we are there for.
- Tell your coach before the session about any change to your health, an injury, symptoms or medication that could affect training safely. Stop and tell someone if you feel unwell while training.
- Wear clothing and footwear you can train safely in. Your coach will tell you if something is not suitable for a particular exercise.
Looking after the place
- Put weights, bars and equipment back where they belong when you have finished with them.
- Wipe down equipment after use and keep the floor clear.
- Report anything broken or unsafe to a coach straight away rather than working around it.
- If equipment is damaged deliberately or through obvious misuse, we may ask you to cover the reasonable cost of repair or replacement. Ordinary wear and accidents are our problem, not yours.
Other people
- Share the space and the equipment. Other people are training to their own programme, on their own schedule.
- Abusive, threatening or discriminatory behaviour is not tolerated, and will end a session immediately.
- Do not photograph or film other people without their agreement. No phones or cameras in the toilets or changing areas.
- Guests do not train without arranging it with us first.
Juniors
- Under 16 — a parent or guardian consents to training, and a responsible adult stays on the premises while the junior trains.
- 16 and 17 — may train without a parent or guardian remaining, where that is appropriate. Parent or guardian involvement and consent remain part of joining.
Your belongings
Client storage is available and we would rather you used it. Please do not leave valuables unattended on the training floor. We are not responsible for loss or damage to your property except where it results from something we have done wrong — nothing here removes a right you have in law.
Safety and emergencies
- Make sure you know where the exits are.
- In an emergency, follow staff instructions and leave by the nearest safe exit.
- Report every accident or near miss to a coach, however minor, so it can be recorded and dealt with.
Things that are not allowed
- Training under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Bringing alcohol or illegal substances onto the premises.
- Using the facility for coaching or training other people commercially.
- Anything that puts you, another client or a coach at risk.
If the rules are broken
Almost everything is resolved with a quiet word, and that is where we start. Where a breach is serious or keeps happening, we may end a session, ask you to take time away, or end the agreement between us. We will explain the reason, and anything you have paid for and not received is dealt with as set out in the Terms & Conditions.
These rules form part of your agreement with us and sit alongside the Terms. Nothing in them limits your rights under consumer law, and nothing in them excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
